Created in 2017 by Thai artist Molly Yllom — real name Nisa "Mod" Srikamdee, based in Bangkok. She worked as a graphic designer and event organiser before turning to toys after the death of her dog, Somchun. CRYBABY was conceived as permission to cry openly. In 2023 she became the first Thai artist to sign with Pop Mart, and CRYBABY is now widely cited as the brand's second-biggest IP after Labubu.
